The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) uses the One Time Registration (OTR) system for NDA and CDS exams. This system is great because you only upload once. But it is terrible for first-timers because of its strict pixel rules.
If your photo is even one pixel less (e.g., 349x350), the system shows:
"Image dimensions are invalid. Minimum accepted dimensions are 350 x 350 pixels."
This guide solves that error instantly.
⚠️ Pixel vs CM
UPSC OTR doesn't care about centimeters (3.5cm). It only checks pixels. Your photo MUST be at least 350px wide and 350px tall. Most online compressors shrink it to 200px, which causes rejection.

How to Resize for NDA/CDS (OTR)
Our tool is specifically coded to keep dimensions above 350px while reducing file size.
- Open Tool: Go to the NDA/CDS Resizer.
- Upload: Select your photo or signature.
- Name & Date (Optional): If you want to be safe, check the "Add Name & Date" box.
- Download: The output is guaranteed to be OTR compliant.
Important Rules for Defence Exams
- No Beard (For Civilians): While not explicitly banned in the form, a clean-shaven look is preferred for the SSB interview stage. The photo should match your appearance at the SSB.
- Signature Ink: Use Black Ink strictly. Blue ink is risky.
- Glasses: If you wear glasses, ensure no reflection. For NDA, candidates with myopia often face medical rejection, so verify your eligibility.
FAQ: OTR Upload Errors
Q: I resized my photo to 20KB but OTR says "Invalid Dimensions". Why? A: When you compress to 20KB, normal tools shrink the image to 100x100 pixels. UPSC imposes a double constraint: Small Size (20-300KB) BUT Large Dimensions (350x350px). Our tool manages this balance.
Q: Can I change my OTR photo later? A: It is difficult. UPSC opens correction windows rarely. It is best to upload a professional studio photo with a white background right now, as it will be used for your Admit Card and Interview.
